At Lytchett Bay Soaps, we believe the products you use every day should be a pleasure to use. From beautifully scented handmade soaps to natural skincare and wellbeing products, everything we create is made with care, using thoughtfully selected ingredients and a hands-on approach that has always been at the heart of our business.

What began as a passion for creating beautiful, handmade products has grown into Lytchett Bay Soaps as you see it today — a proudly independent Dorset business with our own shop, a wonderful team and an ever-growing collection of products made for everyday moments of self-care.

Our Story

Lytchett Bay Soaps was born from a love of handmade, honest skincare and a desire to create products that are a little different from those you'd find on the high street.

“My journey into making soaps and skincare products began for a very personal reason. I wanted to find a more natural alternative to the synthetic products I was using, as I found that they were affecting my health.

I started experimenting in my own kitchen, making products for myself and discovering just how much I enjoyed the process. What began as a search for an alternative gradually became a real passion. I loved learning about ingredients, exploring different formulations and creating products that I genuinely wanted to use on my own skin.

Before long, I began sharing my creations with friends, letting them try the products I had been making. Their interest encouraged me to look into things more seriously and explore what it would take to turn my little kitchen hobby into something more.

That was when I began working towards my first product assessment, taking my first steps towards making my creations into products I could confidently share with others.

Looking back, it all started with a simple desire to find an alternative that worked better for me. I never imagined that something I began making in my own kitchen would grow into the journey that has become Lytchett Bay Soaps.” - Liz

Over the years, the range may have grown, but the ethos behind it hasn't changed: creating lovely products with care, keeping things personal and never losing the handmade quality that makes Lytchett Bay Soaps special.

Thoughtfully Chosen Ingredients

What goes into our products matters.

We carefully select ingredients for each formulation, balancing quality, performance and the experience of using the finished product. We believe in keeping things considered and creating products that you'll genuinely look forward to reaching for.

From the very beginning, we wanted to create products using ingredients that felt right for you and your skin. The  search for alternatives to synthetic products has always  inspired us to explore the wonderful ingredients that nature has to offer, and that passion continues to guide us today.

We love working with plant oils and butters, essential oils, clays, natural minerals, herbs, botanicals and natural exfoliants, carefully bringing them together to create soaps and skincare products that are a pleasure to use.

Where possible, we source our ingredients from UK-based suppliers. We have also made the decision to avoid palm oil and, wherever possible, choose ingredients that are ethically and sustainably sourced. These choices reflect our desire to be thoughtful about the ingredients we use and to stay true to the principles that inspired Liz from the very start to making her own skincare.

Although many of the products use plant-based ingredients, not everything in the range is vegan. Some of the products contain local honey, allowing us to support a local supplier. We believe in being honest and transparent about what goes into our products, which is why we list the ingredients on every product, helping you make an informed choice about what's right for you.

For us, Lytchett Bay Soaps is about combining a love of nature, a passion for creating and the knowledge we have gained along the way to make products with care, purpose and attention to detail. Every formulation is part of that ongoing journey, which began in Liz’s own kitchen and continues today.

There really are people behind the products you receive.

Our soaps are handmade in small batches here in Dorset, allowing us to give each batch the care and attention it deserves. From creating and pouring to cutting, finishing and wrapping, the process is wonderfully hands-on.

It's also why no two handmade soaps will ever look completely identical. Those little variations, textures and beautifully imperfect shapes are part of their character — and part of what makes handmade special.
